I'm extremely sorry for the long hiatus.. I've been forgetting to post on the blog, and instead I've been posting on the Facebook page. I will be posting much more frequently on the blog though.
As for this update, it won't necessarily be all that long, as I do not have much to discuss, but I would like to discuss what I believe will happen in the short-term and long-term forecasts.
As for the short-term...
It does look like 90-degree weather will persist through at least Wednesday. So far, many places in the region have hit 90 on both Saturday and Sunday, and today will just keep that streak going [specifically if current trends in cloud cover persist].
By tomorrow and Wednesday, the area could be looking at temperatures in the lower 90's with heat indices near or exceeding 100. Dew points will increase into the low-mid 70's, especially on Wednesday and Thursday.
By Thursday, expect high temperatures to drop into the upper 80's, as the cold front approaches and as cloud cover increases across the area. Dew points will also be rather high, allowing for scattered thunderstorms to develop.
From Friday through next Tuesday, I expect temperatures to recede back into the lower 80's with more pleasant conditions. I expect that this pattern will continue through July 4th, before the Western ridge flattens once again, and shifts back east. I find it highly likely that 90-degree weather returns to the area for the week of July 8th through the 12th, and possibly persisting longer. This goes along with my general idea that as the summer progresses, our bouts of heat will become more intense and of longer duration. I expect this year to see the vast majority of our 90-degree days at the end of July through late August and early September.
