Record-breaking Heat Continues

With upper level ridging continuing over the area, I expect that temperatures will continue to rise, especially as the low level flow veers to the southwest and west, which will continue to pump warm air into the region. Highs today will range from the middle to upper 90's under sunny skies. By tonight, as the ridge begins to flatten, warm dry air from the plains will advect into the region, causing temperatures to jump once again on Tuesday, with highs over 100 possible. All of this will continue with humidity levels up once again, which will allow heat indices to rise above 100. By Wednesday, a cold front will approach from the north, and cause a slight chance for showers and thunderstorms. By Thursday and Friday temperatures will drop back into the upper 80's.
